The Three Distinct Categories Of Billionaires
54 and raised by a single mother in Milwaukee. She eventually attended Tennessee State University where she obtained a degree in Speech Communications and Performing Arts.
Oprah started working part time as a news anchor for a local radio station and in 1976 she moved to Baltimore to host “People Are Talking.” In the 1980’s she began hosting “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Her success on that show propelled her to fame, fortune and a variety of achievements in other areas. As we have described in other articles, there are three separate divisions of billionaires. Not all billionaires are made the equal! The three categories are…
1) Self-made billionaires.
2) Billionaires born into privilege and advantage.
3) Billionaires who inherited their wealth and situation.
An example of the first group which come from a poor to middle class background and essentially have to make it on their own, would be the TV icon Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah was born January 29 19
In 2011 Ms. Winfrey launched The Oprah Winfrey Network. Among her properties are Harpo Productions, The Angel Network and she is co-owner of Oxygen Media. It has been estimated that Oprah Winfrey as of 2016, is worth approximately 3 billion dollars.
An example of our second group, people with privilege, born with a huge advantage, would be an individual who could best be described as one of a kind, Donald Trump!
Donald Trumps’ father, Fred Trump was a very savvy business man who took advantage of the building boom at the end of the Second World War and various government loopholes to cleverly build a small construction and real estate business empire. It has been estimated that at the time of his death in 1999, Fred Trump was worth between 200 and 300 million dollars!
Donald Trump born June 14 1946, joined his father’s business in 1971. A few years later he became president of the business. Whereas Fred Trump was satisfied developing properties in Brooklyn and Queens New York, Donald Trump expanded into Manhattan which can only be viewed as a clever move. In 1980 he created The Trump Organization to oversee all of his projects.
It is fair to say I believe, that Donald Trump was given a large advantage in life, growing up with a wealthy father who he has admitted, gave him a small loan of a million dollars! It has been alleged that he also received another loan for I believe somewhere around 9 million dollars. Whether or not that is the case, is probably irrelevant. Either way, he still enjoyed a huge advantage.
A biographer of Donald Trump on a recent interview suggested that Fred Trump co-signed and was a ghost partner in all of Donald Trump’s most successful ventures.
It is clear that Donald Trump ended up inheriting his father’s already established multimillion dollar construction development business which is an undeniable asset that most of us will never experience. Along with his father’s business, Donald Trump also inherited his father’s political, government and business connections. Another massive advantage when you need permission to develop a piece of property and get things done quickly.
Along with his real estate development empire, Donald Trump who obviously likes the limelight, became the face of The Apprentice, a reality TV show from 2000 until 2011.
In 2016 Forbes suggests that Donald trump’s fortune is 4.5 billion. Not surprisingly Donald Trump claims it to more than 10 billion!
An example of the third and last group, people who owe all of their wealth to an inheritance or the family business would be J. Willard Marriott Jr.
J. Willard, better known as Bill Marriot was born March 25 1932.
His father Willard Marriot Sr. started with a small 9 seater root beer stand. In 1956 Bill Marriott joined his father’s business. In 1964, a mere eight years later, bill Marriott became an executive vice-president of the company and a member of the board.
In 1985 he became Chairman of the Board and Executive Chairman of Marriott International in 2012. Marriot International boasts 4,200 locations, about 365,000 employees and they are in 80 countries worldwide.
Bill Marriot’s net worth has been estimated at 2.5 billion dollars.
The story of wealth is not exactly as the establishment has presented. It is abundantly clear that it is far easier to create your personal fortune if you already come from a background of privilege and wealth. This gives you an advantage and opportunities that the vast majority of the population (95%) do not enjoy.
The reality of wealth is as follows…
1) Old money is better than new money, because there is usually much more of it!
2) New money is better than no money! Starting from nothing is an uphill battle!
3) The rich have an unfair advantage right from the word go!
4) Nobody said life was fair, if they did, they were lying!
5) The rest of us, the 95% without any advantage, can still be successful but it will require a vision, hard work and perseverance and an abundance of good luck and timing!
We hope that this article clearly illustrates the reality of making a fortune in the real world.
